ArkWeb Mod Explained

ArkWeb is a concept mod with a simple-sounding but technically wild premise. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered runs hidden in the background while Batman: Arkham Knight stays on screen as the visible game. The trick is that Spider-Man's swinging and wall-running physics operate on Gotham's streamed collision data, so the web-swinging feel is mapped onto a city it was never built for.

The split between the two games is what makes the concept interesting. Movement borrows from Spider-Man, with swinging and wall-running driving how you travel through Gotham. Combat, on the other hand, stays with Arkham Knight's system, and Spider-Man copies Batman's poses while fighting. You get the traversal fantasy of one hero with the combat rhythm of another, stitched together in real time.

Gotham is a streamed open world, meaning districts load in and out as you move. Spider-Man's physics need solid collision data to swing from, so the mod depends on what Gotham has actually loaded at that moment. When the two games agree on the shape of the world, the illusion holds. When they disagree, the seams show, and that tension is the whole technical story of the project.

Because this is experimental, the rough edges are part of the deal. Unloaded districts can leave gaps where there is nothing to swing from, breaking the flow. Lighting can also mismatch, since two different games render light differently, so the combined image may not look fully unified. Treat ArkWeb as a proof of concept that shows what is possible when games are layered, not as a polished way to play either title.
