PUBG Free to Play: Platforms, PS Plus & Xbox Guide [Confirmed]

PUBG Battlegrounds is permanently free-to-play across PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, allowing new players worldwide to download the base battle royale experience without purchasing physical discs or standard console multiplayer network subscriptions. According to verified reports from Dexerto PUBG, the shift to a free-to-play model eliminates the original upfront price tag to match modern rivals like Call of Duty Warzone and Apex Legends. On consoles, players can drop onto Erangel and Miramar without active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core memberships, drastically lowering onboarding hurdles for squads. While the standard unranked matchmaking remains completely free, competitive enthusiasts can unlock Battlegrounds Plus through a one-time upgrade fee to access ranked leaderboards, custom matches, and bonus G-Coin.
