Call of Duty: Black Ops II Ranks Best-Selling in 2026 [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from TalkEsport, Call of Duty: Black Ops II has unexpectedly emerged as the sixth best-selling video game across the United States throughout 2026 according to comprehensive Circana market data through September. This staggering milestone for a legacy title launched in November 2012 was driven almost entirely by the surprise PS4 and PS5 port released by Activision on July 9, which instantly propelled the fourteen-year-old shooter to the top of monthly sales charts. The resurgence underscores a massive market appetite for classic multiplayer experiences, easily overshadowing several contemporary major releases. Similar to trends seen in [Modern Warfare 4 DMZ PvE Petition Launches [Confirmed]](/news/modern-warfare-4-dmz-pve-petition), player demand for heritage content remains exceptionally resilient. Circana’s year-to-date tracking confirms physical and full-game digital purchases propelled the title ahead of heavyweights like Forza Horizon 6 and Tomodachi Life. Meanwhile, September launch Marvel’s Wolverine sits eleventh annually, highlighting how nostalgia-driven console ports can radically outperform expectations and redefine standard publishing lifecycles across modern hardware ecosystems today.
