League of Legends Patch 26.22 Preview: Locke Nerfs & Mel [Patch Notes]

Released by Riot Games design lead Matt Leung-Harrison on October 27, 2026, the League of Legends patch 26.22 preview outlines critical champion balance modifications including major nerfs to Locke and tactical kit adjustments for Mel. According to verified reporting from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, RiotPhroxzon unveiled the upcoming changes aimed at stabilizing ranked queue dynamics ahead of the next competitive phase. The headline modification targets Mel’s W ability, Rebuttal, which has dominated high-Elo draft phases due to its overwhelming defensive utility. Developers are re-tuning the ability's counterplay windows to ensure fair engagement terms for opposing laners. Meanwhile, perennial pro-play staples including Locke, Thresh, and Yasuo are slated for measured nerfs to curb their pervasive draft priority and sustained skirmishing dominance. These adjustments arrive as teams finalize their rosters and ladder grinders adapt to shifting power curves.
