Config Files Explained

Config files are the small data files the game uses to remember settings and load content: graphics choices, control layouts, downloaded maps and assets. They live inside the game's own folders and the game rewrites them itself when you change a setting. Most players never need to touch them, because every safe change they want already exists as an in-game setting. Problems start only when a downloaded file replaces one of these files with a version that changes gameplay.

UserCustom.ini stores custom settings such as sensitivity and control preferences in a text form the game reads on launch. Active.sav is a save file that holds account-side settings and progress markers the game writes itself. Pak files are content packages: the game's maps, models and sounds are packed into them so they load fast. OBB files are the large data files Android uses to deliver the game's main content alongside the app itself. None of these are meant to be edited by players: the game manages them, and editing them by hand is how safe settings turn into client modification.

A downloaded config file can hide more than the feature it advertises: a file sold as no recoil or high FPS can also change damage, visibility or movement values, and the player has no way to check before installing. Even a file that does only what it claims still modifies the client, which the game treats as cheating and can punish with temporary or long bans. Files from chat groups and video descriptions carry a second risk: malware and login stealers bundled with the download. The ban risk and the malware risk both come from the same decision to install a file the game did not create.

Every safe change has an in-game path: sensitivity sliders, graphics options, control layouts and HUD settings all exist in the settings menu, and this site's sensitivity and claw guides explain how to tune them. If a setting you want does not exist in-game, that absence is the answer: the game does not support it, and forcing it with a file is the risk. Keep your main ID on official settings only, and if you want an account with rare items without the grind, escrow-safe buying is available on the PUBG accounts page (/en/pubg-accounts).
