Is Enshrouded 1.0 Modding Safe?

Modding Enshrouded can be safe, but safety depends on where the mod comes from and how carefully you check it before installing, not on the mod idea itself. A mod from a well-known creator with a clear description and a history of honest updates is far less risky than a file passed around in a random chat or comment. Back up your saves before you install anything, install one mod at a time, and remove anything that behaves strangely. If a mod asks for account details or a login, stop immediately, because a genuine mod never needs those.

Look for a creator with a visible track record, a detailed description of what the mod changes, and a changelog that shows steady, honest maintenance. Read recent comments from other players, paying attention to reports of crashes, broken saves, or unexpected behaviour rather than to hype alone. Check what the mod asks to change on your system, and be wary of anything bundled with unrelated software or installers you did not expect. A trustworthy mod explains itself plainly and does not rush you, hide its contents, or demand trust it has not earned.

Before installing, copy your save files somewhere safe so a bad mod cannot cost you a world you spent hours building. Install mods one at a time and test the game after each one, so you can tell exactly which mod caused a problem if something breaks. Keep the game and your mods updated together, because a mod built for an older version can misbehave after a game update. If the game starts crashing or your saves look wrong, remove the newest mod first and restore your backup rather than pushing on and hoping it fixes itself.
