The Lich Wars RPG Revealed: Necromancer Prequel [Confirmed]

Psychic Software has officially announced The Lich Wars, an ambitious standalone prequel to their acclaimed dark fantasy RPG The Necromancer's Tale, expanding the original game's beloved storybook prologue into a full narrative campaign tracking thirty years of undead sorcery and regional turmoil. According to verified reports from Rock Paper Shotgun, developer Psychic Software is transforming the tactical choose-your-own-adventure mechanics introduced in their debut title into an expansive standalone experience. In the original release, players meticulously balanced forbidden ritual spellcraft against the growing suspicions of superstitious villagers. The Lich Wars dramatically escalates that tension by framing player choices across three decades of continuous political corruption, necromantic experimentation, and escalating military conflicts. Much like tactical narrative experiments highlighted when the [Australia Did It Tactics Game Gets Hilarious New Title [Confirmed]](/news/australia-did-it-tactics-game-release), indie studios are doubling down on highly reactive storytelling systems rather than bloated open worlds. Players in The Lich Wars will navigate dense narrative nodes where dark decisions permanently reshape provincial borders, alter arcane technology, and decide whether their fledgling sorcerer ascends to immortal lichdom or falls victim to zealous inquisitors. With rich illustrated storybook aesthetics and relentless moral trade-offs, Psychic Software aims to deliver another dark fantasy benchmark.
