Wicker Movie Review: IGN Details Fantasy Film Release [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from IGN Articles published in October 2026, the dark fantasy film Wicker arrives in theaters on October 23, pairing a lonely fisherwoman portrayed by Olivia Colman with a mystical basket weaver played by Peter Dinklage. Directed with striking emotional resonance, the movie explores unusual storytelling themes reminiscent of classic tales like Pinocchio and Edward Scissorhands. The narrative follows Colman's character as she rebels against societal limits and enlists Dinklage’s mystical artisan to construct a husband crafted entirely from wicker, brought to cinematic life by Alexander Skarsgård. While the premise carries whimsical undertones, IGN's review highlights surprising warmth, genuine pathos, and a direct condemnation of small-town cruelties. Darker narrative elements, including visible gore and implied violence, ground the fantasy in the stark survival realities of its historical era. These harsh truths ultimately serve to elevate moments of sensory beauty, reminding audiences to savor life's fleeting pleasures.
