Resident Evil 2 Gains Local Co‑Op Mod, Boosting Community Play [2026 Update]

While Resident Evil 2 remains a single‑player narrative, the co‑op mod introduces emergent tactical layers. Teams can now assign distinct roles—one focusing on puzzle solving, the other on combat—mirroring classic raid compositions. Map familiarity becomes a shared asset, reducing individual learning curves and potentially accelerating speedrun times. The split‑screen format also encourages synchronized resource management, influencing future community‑driven tournaments that may feature timed co‑op challenges. Upcoming fan‑run events, such as the Halloween Survival Sprint on October 31, will test these dynamics.
