Fortnite Linux Support Confirmed: Epic Rebuilds Anti-Cheat [Update 2026]

According to verified reports from Rock Paper Shotgun published in early 2026, Epic Games is actively rebuilding its proprietary Easy Anti-Cheat software to finally bring Fortnite to Linux desktop configurations after years of kernel security hesitation. The developer confirmed that while desktop Linux users will soon gain native client access, Valve's popular Steam Deck handheld hardware is explicitly excluded from the initial rollout due to distinct kernel architecture hurdles. Epic previously cited insurmountable cheating vectors across fragmented Linux distributions as the primary barrier preventing deployment. By engineering a robust, modernized security layer, the studio opens its flagship battle royale to an entirely new desktop gaming demographic. This monumental shift arrives alongside broader industry hardware expansions, mirroring recent developments seen with the [Xbox Nano Controller Announced: Specs & Price [Confirmed]](/news/xbox-nano-controller-announced-price-specs).
