Final Fantasy 7 Revelation: Hard Mode Overhaul [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from Polygon published in 2026, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation series director Naoki Hamaguchi has officially announced groundbreaking changes to the game's hard mode difficulty, allowing players to experience maximum challenge immediately upon initial release. In previous entries like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, completionists and hardcore veterans were forced to endure a full standard playthrough before unlocking the punishing difficulty setting. Hamaguchi's new vision removes this arbitrary gating entirely, responding directly to community feedback demanding instant access to tactical trials. This shift also parallels broader industry hardware discussions, much like how [Xbox Physical Discs Will Continue for Next-Gen [Confirmed]](/news/xbox-physical-discs-future-job-listing) reassures traditional players valuing physical ownership. By opening hard difficulty from day one, Square Enix is catering directly to high-skill action RPG enthusiasts who crave punishing boss mechanics, strict resource management, and optimized materia builds without artificial delays. Industry analysts note this accessibility pivot could significantly boost Day-1 streaming engagement and speedrunning interest across Twitch and YouTube gaming verticals.
