Delisted Does Not Mean Deleted

Delisting means a game is removed from sale on digital storefronts, usually when a newer yearly title replaces it or a licence expires. It does not delete the game from your library: if you already own it, you can normally still download and play it. What changes is availability — new buyers cannot purchase it digitally — and, over time, online services for older titles may be retired on their own schedule.

Single-player content and your existing saves are generally unaffected by a delisting. Online modes depend on the publisher's server plans, which are announced separately from the delisting itself and often run for a long time afterwards. If you play online modes, check the publisher's server announcements rather than assuming a delisting means immediate shutdown.

After delisting, the remaining legitimate routes are physical copies and authorised resellers, with prices set by scarcity rather than the original price. Be wary of key sellers promising cheap digital keys for delisted titles: stolen or region-mismatched keys are common in that market. For account-based purchases of any game, escrow protects you the same way it does for any gaming account deal.
