Zero Escape Director New Game Canceled At Crash Keys [Confirmed]

Zero Escape and The Hundred Line creator Kotaro Uchikoshi officially confirmed on October 14, 2026, that his unannounced video game project was abruptly canceled after eighteen months of active development, leaving his newly assembled indie development team at Crash Keys without immediate publisher funding. According to verified reports from Kotaku, Uchikoshi revealed the sudden cancellation on social media, describing the overnight studio shutdown as a devastating blow to his production crew. Crash Keys, an independent venture operating in close proximity to Too Kyo Games, brought together prominent industry talent including scenario writer Akira Mine (The Hundred Line, Danganronpa 2x2) and scriptwriter Muri Sasaki (Zero Escape, AI: The Somnium Files). The team had quietly worked for roughly a year and a half before publisher financing vanished without public warning, freezing the venture right before an official public unveiling. This sudden cancellation mirrors broader turbulence across indie studios navigating harsh funding climates, reminiscent of volatility highlighted in recent [GTA 6 Leaks & No Man's Sky Mobile: Industry Trends [Leak]](/news/gta-6-leaks-industry-trends-2026). While Too Kyo Games weathered earlier release debts following The Hundred Line's sleeper retail hit, Crash Keys now faces an uphill battle to secure lifeline partners, appealing directly to long-time visual novel enthusiasts and prospective production backers to salvage their creative intellectual property.
