Sony Ps5 Pro Loyalty Lottery Valve Reservation System [2026 Update]

As originally reported by PC Gamer, Sony Japan has introduced a loyalty‑based lottery for the upcoming PS5 Pro, requiring users to have logged at least 60 hours on a Japanese PlayStation account. The move aims to curb scalpers but forces genuine buyers into a brand‑loyalty test. Simultaneously, Valve rolled out a reservation system for its new Steam Frame, allocating purchase windows via timed slots to prevent bulk buying. Critics argue both strategies add friction for consumers while potentially inflating secondary‑market prices. The hardware community has reacted with mixed feelings, noting that while anti‑scalper intent is clear, the added hurdles may push eager gamers toward grey‑market channels.
