SonicFox Withdraws from Nexcon 2026 Over AI Likeness [Confirmed]

SonicFox, the renowned fighting‑game esports champion, pulled out of Nexcon 2026 on October 21, 2026, after learning that the event’s promotional flyer used AI‑generated imagery of their likeness without permission and publicly expressed that such unauthorized digital replication disrespects personal brand integrity. According to verified reports from Dexerto Esports, the flyer, posted by a user on X, tagged SonicFox and voice actress Kara Edwards, showing a synthetic portrait that the event organizers had not approved. SonicFox immediately announced the contract termination, stating their interest dropped to zero and demanding removal of the AI‑created image. The controversy has sparked debate across the fighting‑game community about consent, image rights, and the ethical use of generative AI in marketing. Event organizers have yet to issue a formal response, while fans rally on social media, citing the need for clearer policies.
