PlayStation Physical Discs: Sony Clarifies 2028 Support [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from Game Rant, PlayStation has officially clarified that physical game disc production and comprehensive software support will continue past January 2028, explicitly correcting widespread industry misconceptions regarding an immediate total disc discontinuation across global markets. Sony specified that while brand new PlayStation 5 software titles released strictly after January 2028 will no longer receive physical disc pressings, existing manufacturing lines will remain active for prior releases, back-catalog titles, and collector editions. This policy adjustment offers a temporary sigh of relief for physical media enthusiasts who feared an overnight digital-only transition. Industry analysts note that manufacturing logistics and retail partner agreements heavily influenced this timeline extension.
