PlayStation Physical Book Sparks Backlash Over Discs [Confirmed]

Sony Interactive Entertainment and UK publisher Read-Only Memory opened preorders for PlayStation: The First 30 Years, a $125 retrospective art book that ignited widespread player backlash across global gaming communities due to the company's aggressive deprioritization of physical game discs. According to verified reports from IGN India, gaming enthusiasts flooded social platforms with 'No Disc, No Buy' protests following the announcement. The controversy highlights a glaring irony: Sony is marketing a luxury print archive celebrating its legacy while systematically stripping optical disc drives from modern hardware revisions and cutting disc production. The book spans 400 pages of R&D prototypes, concept sketches, and interviews with foundational architects including 'Father of PlayStation' Ken Kutaragi, DualShock creator Teiyu Goto, and PS5 chief designer Yujin Morisawa. Alongside the standard edition, a $325 Deluxe Edition strictly limited to 1,994 copies is scheduled to ship this November.
