Playable Archive PC: Mortuary Assistant Dev Free Horror [Confirmed]

Publisher DreadXP and developer DarkStone Digital have officially launched Playable Archive, a terrifying free micro horror game for PC players released in October 2026, bringing fresh psychological thrills and unsettling narrative puzzles to the indie horror scene. According to verified reports from Gematsu, the project follows DarkStone Digital’s acclaimed development work on The Mortuary Assistant, successfully applying their trademark mastery of paranormal dread into a condensed, highly replayable format. Fans of atmospheric terror can dive straight into the harrowing experience on PC without encountering any financial barriers, microtransactions, or paywalls. This surprise release mirrors other gripping indie horror milestones, such as the [MIMESIS Off The Rails Update: Krafton AI Horror [Patch Notes]](/news/mimesis-off-the-rails-update-patch-notes), highlighting a surging global appetite for compact, high-tension digital storytelling and immersive survival gameplay across the modern gaming landscape. DarkStone Digital continues to aggressively redefine independent horror standards through meticulous audio soundscapes, claustrophobic interactive environments, and psychologically taxing scenario design that keeps players constantly second-guessing every eerie shadow. Furthermore, the studio's commitment to releasing accessible bite-sized experiences ensures broad community engagement across streaming platforms and dedicated horror forums worldwide.
