Next-Gen Xbox Project Helix: $1,800 Price Tag [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from GameSpot News and Fortune published in early 2026, Microsoft's next-generation Project Helix console is projected to launch in 2028 with an estimated retail price ranging between $1,200 and $1,800. This massive price projection is heavily driven by ongoing AI-fueled memory and component shortages that continue to inflate global semiconductor manufacturing expenses. Industry analysts note that unless Microsoft heavily subsidizes the hardware—similar to past strategies where former Xbox CEO Phil Spencer revealed multi-hundred-dollar losses per sold unit—consumers will face unprecedented costs. Stakeholders across the gaming ecosystem are closely monitoring how Microsoft balances component expenses with accessibility for mainstream players ahead of the official 2028 hardware window.
