Amazon Kindle Android App: Handwritten Notes Live [Update 2026]

Amazon has officially rolled out handwritten notes support to the Kindle Android app in early 2026, enabling smartphone and tablet users worldwide to write, draw, and annotate ebooks directly on the page using stylus input and dynamic text-reflow technology. According to verified reports from Android Authority, Kindle readers across Android devices began receiving an in-app pop-up notification highlighting the feature, which previously debuted on Amazon's dedicated Alexa Tablets. Readers can now select from multiple pen styles, sizes, and colors to scribble thoughts or diagram ideas in the margins. Crucially, the Kindle reader engine adjusts layout formatting in real time, letting paragraphs cleanly flow around user notes without obscuring text. This rollout represents a notable productivity leap for tablet users who rely on Android hardware for research, study, and play. The modernization aligns with ecosystem-wide interface refinements across Android, mirroring recent changes seen in the [Google Messages Settings Overhaul: New UI Leaked [Update 2026]](/news/google-messages-settings-menu-redesign-update). Amazon confirmed that the annotation capability currently remains exclusive to Android phones and tablets, with broader cross-platform parity expected in subsequent app revisions later this season.
