Chrome M156 Update: Googlebook Fixes Rolled Out [Patch Notes]

Google officially released the Chrome M156 software update for Googlebooks this week, deploying essential system patches that resolve persistent extension crashes, address bar stutters, and fullscreen keyboard input hijacking across desktop web applications. According to verified reports from Android Authority, the rapid rollout directly follows Chrome M155, which launched two weeks earlier to establish standalone progressive web app installations. Chrome M156 zeroes in on day-to-day usability bottlenecks that previously crippled productivity and browser-based gaming setups. The patch notes confirm targeted bug fixes for password manager extensions that abruptly forced browser shutdowns, table formatting failures when copying data in Google Docs, and unresponsive download managers. Furthermore, Google restored proper handling for fullscreen application shortcuts, ensuring web-based titles and streaming suites no longer lose keyboard focus during heavy sessions. While critical features like multi-profile switching, cloud tab group synchronization, and automated Google Cast hardware discovery remain in active development for future cycles, M156 stabilizes baseline operations across the Googlebook hardware fleet alongside ongoing tech sector adjustments like the [Ghost of Yotei Dev Sucker Punch Cuts 24 Staff [Confirmed]](/news/ghost-of-yotei-sucker-punch-layoffs-615) reallocations.
