DCU Clayface Movie: Director Added Best Scene Late [Confirmed]

DCU Clayface director James Watkins confirmed that the film's standout shapeshifting nightclub sequence was created and integrated into Mike Flanagan's screenplay late during production, drastically restructuring the villain's confrontation against mob boss Markos Szabo. According to verified reports from GamesRadar via Watkins' interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the British filmmaker felt Flanagan's original draft lacked an escalating physical gauntlet before Matt Hagan reached Szabo's inner sanctum. Drawing creative inspiration from historical siege classics like El Cid and traditional Robin Hood legends, Watkins framed the Vesuvius club raid as a hero storming outer defenses to reach the keep. Within the sequence, Hagan uses his grotesque bio-morphing abilities to systematically dismantle private security while psychologically tormenting mob confidante Mia Torres. This narrative pivot parallels major gaming industry storytelling evolutions seen in recent transmedia shifts, reminiscent of creative transitions documented during [Mass Effect 5 Music Shared After BioWare Closure [Confirmed]](/news/mass-effect-5-music-bioware-closure). Warner Bros. and DC Studios continue expanding their horror-infused cinematic slate, cementing Watkins' kinetic, improvisational adjustments as instrumental in elevating comic book adaptations into terrifying psychological thrillers ahead of worldwide premiere windows.
