Animal Crossing New Horizons 25th Anniversary Update [2026 Update]

As originally reported by VG247, Nintendo rolled out a surprise patch (v3.0.2) for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on both Switch and Switch 2 consoles to mark the series’ 25th anniversary. The update introduces a exclusive anniversary accessory—a decorative wreath and themed furniture set—available through the in‑game Nook Shopping portal. Players can instantly claim the item, and it instantly appears in the seasonal catalog alongside a brief celebration banner. This move mirrors Nintendo’s recent trend of leveraging milestone events to rejuvenate player activity, similar to the strategy highlighted in the article. Early community feedback shows a surge in island tours featuring the new décor, indicating strong adoption across the player base.
