How to Keep Access to a Delisted Game

To keep access to a delisted game, start by confirming it in your own library and download history, keep it installed where possible, and protect the account that owns it. Delisting normally stops new sales, but it does not automatically erase copies already owned — confirm what your own library allows rather than assuming. The key steps are to check your library early, avoid deleting the game in a hurry, and keep your account access secure, because losing the owning account is often harder to fix than the delisting itself.

Open the store or platform library on the account that bought the game, and search for the title by name. Check whether it appears in your owned games, your download history, or your purchase history, and note whether a download option is still offered. If it is offered, test it while you still can, and note any message the platform shows. Do this before you change devices or reset anything, because a clean device or a new account will not carry the same ownership record.

If the game is installed and working, leaving it installed is the simplest protection — reinstalling later is the step most affected by delisting. Avoid deleting it to free space until you have confirmed you can download it again. Where the platform allows legitimate local backups or transfers to another device on the same account, use those official options and keep the backup with the account details noted privately. Do not use unofficial copies or altered files, which can carry security risks and may not work with your legitimate ownership record.

Your access to a delisted game rests on the account that owns it, so protect that account carefully. Use a password you use nowhere else, enable extra login protection on the linked email and platform account, and keep recovery options up to date. If you share a device, sign out of the owning account when others use it, and do not merge or transfer the game to a different account unless the platform offers an official route. Keep purchase receipts or order confirmations in your email, as they help prove ownership if you ever need support.
