How to Fix Riot Login Problems

First confirm you are signing in with the right Riot account, because many players hold more than one and mix up the email addresses. Type the password by hand instead of relying on autofill, and watch for caps lock or an extra space at the end. Make sure you are on the official Riot sign-in page for your game and region, since a bookmark to an old page can send you to the wrong login. If the page itself will not load, try another browser or network before changing anything about the account.

When Riot asks for a code, check the inbox of the exact email tied to the account, including the spam and promotions folders, and wait a few minutes before requesting another code. Requesting several codes in a row can cause confusion, because only the newest code works and older ones stop working. If the email never arrives, check whether the account email is still one you can open, since a changed or closed inbox blocks every code. Our guide on setting up two-factor protection before a sale explains why keeping recovery details current matters.

Too many failed sign-in attempts can lock an account for a short time, so stop guessing and wait before trying again. If you see a message about suspicious activity, follow the on-screen recovery steps rather than trying more passwords, since each failed attempt can extend the lock. Change the password only through the official Riot recovery flow, and use a fresh password you have not used on any other service. Keep a note of the recovery email you used, because support will ask for it if the lock does not lift.

A sign-in that works on one device but not another usually points to the device, not the account, so clear the browser cache or try the Riot client on a different network. Turn off any VPN or proxy for one test sign-in, since some networks get flagged and blocked by login protection. If the client itself fails while the website works, reinstall the client rather than resetting the account. If every device and network fails the same way, the account itself needs recovery through Riot support.
