Enshrouded Block Replacement Explained

Block replacement in Enshrouded lets you swap one building material for another without rebuilding the whole structure, so a base that started in plain materials can later take on a completely different look. Instead of demolishing walls and starting again, you change the material in place, keeping the shape and layout you already built. This makes experimenting far less punishing, because a design choice is no longer permanent, and you can refine the look of a base as you gather new materials and ideas.

In build mode, you select the part of the structure you want to change and choose a new material to replace it with, and the game updates that part while leaving the rest of the building intact. The shape stays the same, so doors, windows, and rooflines you placed carefully do not need to be rebuilt. Take your time with the selection, because changing a large area at once can produce a very different look from changing a single wall. Preview the result, step back, and adjust until it feels right.

Plan your base in two stages: first the shape, then the finish. Build the layout you want with whatever materials are at hand, live in it for a while, and notice which rooms feel too dark, too plain, or out of place. Then use replacement to upgrade the finish room by room, rather than all at once, so you can judge each change. This approach keeps building enjoyable, because you are improving a home you already use, not endlessly restarting a project that never feels finished.
