Zenith Nexus MMO Shutting Down on Steam [Confirmed]

Steam VR MMO Zenith: Nexus is permanently shutting down its live multiplayer servers on December 18 across PC, Meta Quest, and PlayStation VR platforms after developer Ramen VR determined ongoing operational costs could no longer sustain active development. According to verified reports from Game Rant, the studio confirmed that shard architecture, matchmaking, and player databases will go completely dark before the holidays. Originally launched as Zenith: The Last City following a massive crowdfunding campaign, the ambitious title attempted to pioneer persistent open-world virtual reality gaming. However, sharp player drop-offs prompted an emergency transition into the free-to-play Zenith: Nexus hub, introducing procedural dungeon crawling alongside classic campaign worlds. Despite substantial content overhauls, concurrency numbers continued to slide, making server overhead unsustainable for an independent studio. While seasonal games thrive on constant structural refreshes—much like squad building overhauls detailed in our [EA FC 27 Dual Identity EVO: 5 Best Meta Midfielders [Full Guide]](/news/ea-fc-27-dual-identity-evo-guide)—Zenith suffered from severe content droughts and technical hurdles that fractured its core adventuring guild base leading into late 2026.
