Xbox Exclusivity Survey: Full Platform Lock Tested [Confirmed]

Microsoft has issued detailed user research surveys asking players whether future first-party titles should return to strict Xbox and PC console exclusivity, potentially walling off major franchises like Fallout from competing platforms while exempting Activision's Call of Duty series. According to verified reports from IGN Articles, the internal survey questions—originally discovered and shared by Windows Central—prompted respondents to evaluate hypothetical scenarios where all upcoming releases from Xbox-owned development studios cease launching on PlayStation or Nintendo devices. Most strikingly, the questionnaire explicitly floated halting sales of Minecraft on rival console hardware, proposing that existing PlayStation owners would retain their copies but cease receiving future content updates. This strategic inquiry marks a potential pivot from Microsoft's recent multiplatform rollout, which saw titles like Sea of Thieves debut on rival platforms alongside announcements featured in our guide to the [Best Open-World RPGs 2026: Fall Releases & Guide [Update 2026]](/news/best-open-world-rpgs-2026). While Call of Duty remains bound to multiplatform agreements, Microsoft's market research signals an active internal review regarding hardware ecosystem boundaries.
