Xbox Cloud Gaming: $11.99 Standalone Tier Launched [Confirmed]

Microsoft has officially introduced a standalone Xbox Cloud Gaming subscription tier priced at an introductory $11.99 for 50 hours of ad-free game streaming, decoupling cloud play from the traditional Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundle for players worldwide. According to verified reports from Eurogamer, this new pricing structure represents Microsoft's strategic shift toward modular subscription tiers, allowing gamers to stream select titles across mobile, browser, and smart TV platforms without maintaining a full console ecosystem. Users can purchase standalone blocks of streaming time, effectively lowering hardware barriers for casual and competitive players alike. The shift comes amid broader restructuring across major publishers, contrasting with recent publisher contractions like the [BioWare Shutdown: Industry Outrage Over EA Move [Confirmed]](/news/bioware-closure-gaming-industry-reaction) that shook production pipelines. Microsoft's bespoke cloud model targets gamers seeking targeted access rather than sprawling libraries. Eurogamer notes that while the initial rollout features the introductory rate, future expansion tiers and potential ad-supported hourly options remain under internal evaluation. Server nodes powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware will handle compute loads, delivering steady 1080p 60fps streams to supported endpoints with optimized network routing protocols.
