CS2 Steam Frame Update: CD-ROM Kernel Patch [Confirmed]

Valve developers rapidly integrated native CD-ROM support into the Steam Frame virtual reality headset kernel in just under ten minutes following a direct community request on October 19, according to verified reports published by PC Gamer. The lightning-fast update occurred after a user named AiodensGhost asked why their detachable disc drive failed to work with the VR headset while traveling. While attempting to watch movies and install legacy abandonware from 200, the user realized the hardware lacked necessary drivers and power capabilities. Valve developer gaberow responded almost immediately, committing the kernel patch within minutes. This rapid turnaround highlights an extraordinary level of developer responsiveness rarely seen in modern hardware ecosystems. Similar to how firmware updates draw developer attention—much like the recent [Sony PS5 Exploit Hacker Bounty: Hacker Earns $50K From Sony [Confirmed]](/news/sony-ps5-exploit-hacker-bounty)—Valve's proactive stance on niche hardware requests sets a new industry benchmark. Enthusiasts and modders alike are praising the seamless execution, proving that community-driven feedback loops can yield instantaneous results when engineering teams are fully empowered. The integration opens unexpected avenues for retro gaming enthusiasts wanting to experience physical media on cutting-edge virtual reality hardware platforms without cumbersome workarounds or third-party emulators.
