Trollheim Gnomes Revealed: Ex-Mojang Survival Game [Confirmed]

Ex-Mojang developers officially revealed Trollheim: Gnomes during IGN Fan Fest, introducing a distinct Nordic folklore PC survival crafting title where players control tiny three-inch gnomes building vertical canopy bases with entirely optional combat mechanics against looming mythical creatures. According to verified reports from IGN Articles, the newly announced survival title is spearheaded by former Minecraft creators who drew deep inspiration from childhood Scandinavian folktales regarding Sprýg Gnomes and mythical woodland spirits. Instead of conforming to harsh combat-heavy survival tropes, Trollheim introduces a fresh cooperative paradigm where players scale forest trees to establish high-altitude shelter colonies. As gnomes level up their woodworking and architectural mastery, construction expands vertically toward the forest canopy, evoking a high-rise condominium model where penthouse elevations provide safety from ground-dwelling monsters. Looming mythological entities known as the Väsen wander the underbrush, significantly outmatching the diminutive player characters in size and raw force. Crucially, the studio confirmed these mythical beasts will not attack players on sight, permitting purely pacifist, stealth-driven, or puzzle-oriented survival runs. Similar to structural innovation seen in our [Humankind 2 Preview: Culture Switching & 19 Myths [Confirmed]](/news/humankind-2-culture-switching-preview), Trollheim reinvents foundational world-building systems by letting players dictate conflict intensity entirely on their own terms.
