Total War: Shogun 2 Remaster Pulled From Steam [Confirmed]

Sega and developer Creative Assembly abruptly pulled Total War: Shogun 2 — Complete Edition from the Steam store following widespread player backlash against severe visual bugs, melted texture anomalies, and unpolished generative AI artwork introduced in the October 13 remaster update. According to verified reports from IGN Articles, the modern facelift was marketed as an upgraded visual overhaul featuring enhanced lighting, refined 3D models, improved anti-aliasing, and stylized 2.5D campaign cutscenes inspired by traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints. However, fans immediately uncovered glaring visual defects, notably samurai warriors with metallic skin textures melting directly into their helmets and corrupted cutscene frames bearing obvious generative AI artifacts. Disappointed grand strategy enthusiasts flooded the Steam hub with negative reviews, demanding Sega restore the authentic 2011 classic. Sega conceded to community pressure by delisting the remaster while Creative Assembly audits their external asset pipelines. Existing owners retain access, but store purchases remain locked indefinitely until visual integrity passes rigorous internal quality benchmarks.
