Torchlight 2 Update 2026: Controller Support [Patch]

According to verified reports from PCGamesN published in early 2026, the legendary action RPG Torchlight 2 is receiving extensive community fixes and long-awaited controller support via an opt-in beta branch fourteen years after its initial launch. While the original developers moved on long ago, this surprise update addresses enduring community complaints regarding modern operating system compatibility, UI scaling, and input diversity. Players eager to test the new build can opt into the experimental branch directly through Steam, though developers have prudently kept it optional for purists who prefer the unadulterated legacy experience. Alongside native gamepad integration, the patch tackles long-standing balancing quirks across core classes like the Berserker, Embermage, Engineer, and Outlander. These adjustments improve skill synergy and smoother endgame map progression without disrupting classic mod compatibility. For players tracking platform integrations and library milestones, reviewing tools like the [Steam Personal Calendar: New Discovery Hub [Update 2026]](/news/steam-personal-calendar-discovery-update) helps organize these retro revivals alongside modern releases. This unexpected technical investment proves that beloved dungeon crawlers retain immense staying power, encouraging both nostalgic solo adventurers and cooperative squads to dust off their gear and dive back into the Ember wastes.
