Tilak Varma Captaincy Future: Irfan Pathan Massive Praise [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has endorsed Tilak Varma as a future Team India captain following his masterclass performance in the second T20I against New Zealand in 2026. Walking in at a precarious No. 6 position with India needing a substantial rescue operation during the chase of 181, Varma delivered an extraordinary unbeaten knock of 51 runs from just 26 deliveries. His ice-cold composure under immense scoreboard pressure completely shifted the momentum of the series, drawing widespread acclaim from cricket analysts and legends alike. Pathan specifically emphasized Varma's innate leadership mindset and tactical intelligence during high-stakes run chases, noting that such temperament distinguishes elite players destined for long-term national captaincy roles. As building blocks for future squads are tested across international circuits, Varma's match-winning temperament reinforces his status as a cornerstone of Indian cricket.
