Team Liquid Drops Rupal Overwatch Racial Slur Owwc [2026 Update]

As originally reported by Dexerto Esports, premier esports organization Team Liquid has officially parted ways with veteran support player Rupal Zaman following the use of an anti-Black racial slur during a live broadcast. The incident occurred on March 16, 2026, during public livestreamed trials for the United States Overwatch World Cup squad, where the offending message was broadcast via in-game team chat. Following immediate community outcry, Team USA leadership confirmed Rupal has been permanently disqualified from the 2026 roster selection, citing an unyielding zero-tolerance policy regarding discriminatory conduct. Team Liquid swiftly matched this disciplinary action by terminating his active player contract. This decisive organizational intervention echoes previous governance enforcements across the franchise, such as when triggered stringent structural reforms. As the broader competitive ecosystem continues recalibrating amid discussions highlighted in , corporate sponsors and tournament operators have reinforced zero-tolerance ethics clauses across all Tier-1 contracts.
