Super Flower 12VHPWR OCP Dongle Prevents GPU Melts [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from PC Gamer, power supply manufacturer Super Flower has launched the innovative VGA 12+4 pin OCP Dongle to actively prevent high-end graphics cards from experiencing catastrophic thermal melting failures. This specialized ARGB hardware intermediary sits directly between the power cable and the graphics card, specifically measuring dangerous current fluctuations across the vulnerable 12V-2x6 and 12VHPWR connectors. Capable of delivering up to 600 watts for flagship hardware like the Nvidia RTX 5090, these power connectors frequently suffer from load imbalances across their six hot +12V pins due to manufacturing imperfections and high resistance. The OCP Dongle addresses this engineering crisis by providing real-time overcurrent protection, alerting users before power pins overheat and fuse together. Following the widespread hardware failures documented during the [Nvidia RTX 5090 Cable Melt Crisis Hits Repair Shops [Confirmed]](/news/nvidia-rtx-5090-melted-power-connectors), hardware enthusiasts and esports competitors alike have demanded reliable physical safeguards. Super Flower's engineering breakthrough offers much-needed peace of mind, though critics argue that consumers should not bear the responsibility of engineering around fundamental connector flaws. Industry analysts expect broader adoption across premium custom builds throughout 2026 as manufacturers scramble to restore consumer confidence in high-wattage power delivery systems.
