Street Fighter 2026 Movie Review: Ken, Ryu & Bison [Review]

Released in theaters worldwide in October 2026, the live-action Street Fighter movie thoroughly evaluated by Kotaku is a chaotic and incoherent martial arts adaptation focusing primarily on the bitter rivalry between iconic fighters Ken and Ryu. According to verified reports from Kotaku staff writer Kenneth Shepard, the massive ensemble cast brings numerous Capcom legends to the big screen, though the narrative strains under erratic editing and questionable character writing. The plot centers around the World Warrior tournament, which serves as a sinister front for the psycho-powered tyrant M. Bison. Bison’s ultimate objective is siphoning Ryu’s escalating powers to enhance his own dominion. Meanwhile, fan-favorite operative Chun-Li infiltrates Bison’s syndicate as an undercover double agent with independent motives. However, the film faces heavy criticism for its treatment of female combatants, notably altering Cammy into a chaotic Juri archetype and leaning into overly gratuitous framing for Chun-Li sequences. Despite glaring narrative stumbles, the production captures raw combat energy reminiscent of high-level tournament pressure. As major entertainment properties bridge the gap into interactive gaming culture, competitive communities continue analyzing every cinematic beat across global networks.
