Steam Achievements Overhaul: Beta Live Now [Update 2026]

Valve has officially launched a comprehensive overhaul to the Steam Achievements framework within the latest Steam Beta client update, introducing organized Achievement Sets to give PC players granular milestone tracking and preserve showcase completionists' hard-earned hundred-percent ribbons. According to verified reports from Insider Gaming, the updated framework addresses long-standing complaints from completionists whose perfect game ribbons were routinely stripped whenever developers published post-launch expansions or seasonal DLC packs. Under the new Achievement Sets architecture, developers can partition base game accomplishments from auxiliary downloadable content, allowing players to retain verified completion medals regardless of future catalog additions. The rollout also updates the in-game overlay UI, introducing dynamic progress bars, rarity tier indicators, and contextual pinning directly inside active game sessions. Steam users enrolled in the client beta program can test the reorganized menus immediately across supported single-player and multiplayer titles. While competitive players dive into these tactical profile upgrades or explore releases like [GeoGuessr Horror Mode Update: New Survival Genre [Update 2026]](/news/geoguessr-horror-genre-update-2026), Valve plans to gather telemetry from the beta pool before deploying the system across the general public desktop and Steam Deck client software later this season.
