Steam Achievements Overhaul [Beta]: DLC Sets & Friend Compare

Valve’s latest Steam client beta, released in September 2026, overhauls the achievement system by introducing separate achievement sets for base games, DLC, and seasonal passes, plus a new side‑by‑side friend comparison view that preserves 100% completion stats. According to verified reports from PC Gamer, the update is currently in beta and is slated for a public rollout within the next month. Developers can now create custom achievement groups, allowing players to see progress on expansions without diluting their original completion percentage. The new friend comparison screen lets users line‑up their achievement totals side‑by‑side, fostering friendly competition and clearer bragging rights. This overhaul also separates seasonal battle‑pass rewards, preventing them from affecting long‑term achievement percentages once the event ends.
