NHL 2026: Bobrovsky Hits Unwanted Leafs Record [Confirmed]

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky equaled a grim fifteen-year franchise record on October 18, 2026, after conceding three or more goals in his sixth consecutive start during a 4-1 defeat against the New York Islanders at Scotiabank Arena. According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, Bobrovsky stopped just 16 of 20 shots on Saturday, driving his record down to 1-3-2 alongside a 3.29 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage. He is the first Toronto netminder to surrender at least three goals in six straight games to open a campaign since Vesa Toskala endured a similar slump back in 2009. The New York Islanders capitalized ruthlessly on defensive lapses, scoring three unanswered tallies that silenced the home crowd. Much like the high-stakes coaching recalibrations highlighted in our [Mike Vrabel A.J. Brown Patriots Comeback Analysis [Confirmed]](/news/mike-vrabel-aj-brown-patriots-analysis), Toronto coaching staff now faces critical questions regarding crease deployment and defensive zone exits. Bobrovsky arrived in Toronto carrying elite pedigree, but lingering communication gaps between blue-line pairings and net coverage continue to plague the Maple Leafs during high-danger transition rushes.
