PUBG Project Blackbudget: New Extraction Shooter [Confirmed]

PUBG Studios and publisher Krafton have officially entered active development on Project Blackbudget, an ambitious open-world PvPvE extraction shooter designed to challenge Escape From Tarkov and Warzone DMZ by pairing signature battle royale ballistic mechanics with persistent survival raids. According to verified reports from Dexerto PUBG, the project was formally unveiled within Krafton's corporate earnings documentation, confirming PUBG Studios as the core development team spearheading production. Rather than recycling conventional survival tropes, Blackbudget promises an ever-changing open-world environment where squads deploy to secure rare military technology, engage hostile AI patrols, and eliminate rival operators before reaching scheduled exfiltration points. This structural pivot mirrors architectural gameplay evolutions previously highlighted in the [PUBG Rondo Map Update: Devs Reveal Tactical Shift [Confirmed]](/news/pubg-rondo-map-tactical-shift-guide), illustrating Krafton's strategy to broaden its hardcore shooter portfolio. Additionally, multi-system integration remains a central priority, building upon foundational network engineering explored in 217G's [PUBG Cross-Platform Guide: PlayStation & Xbox Crossplay [Confirmed]](/news/pubg-cross-platform-playstation-xbox-guide). While Krafton has withheld playable gameplay footage, financial disclosures highlight that internal production milestones are progressing rapidly, with early alpha technical testing phases expected across primary platforms before global rollout windows.
