NZ vs IND 2026: Badrinath Picks 2nd T20I XI [Confirmed]

Former Chennai Super Kings batter Subramaniam Badrinath officially revealed his preferred Indian playing XI for the second T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch, decisively drafting mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy into the bowling attack to exploit mid-pitch bounce and counter aggressive top-order hitting. According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, Badrinath published his strategic lineup via his official Instagram handle following India's dominant opening performance. Coming directly off [IND vs NZ 1st T20I 2026: Samson Drives Historic Win [Confirmed]](/news/ind-vs-nz-1st-t20i-samson-highlights-2026), the veteran analyst argues that tactical rotation is vital for sustaining match-winning momentum. While expert commentator Aakash Chopra previously spotlighted bowling depth during [NZ vs IND 1st T20I: Chopra Names Key Turning Point [Confirmed]](/news/nz-vs-ind-turning-point-2026), Badrinath's tactical adjustment replaces outright pace with Chakaravarthy’s deceptive carrom-ball variations. The selection specifically addresses Hagley Oval’s breezy conditions, where conventional finger spinners often suffer against wind-assisted power hitting. Badrinath retains the core batting order, placing full confidence in the aggressive top three while demanding tighter containment during overs seven through fifteen. With the Blackcaps preparing retaliatory tactics on home turf, Chakaravarthy’s inclusion provides Indian team management an offensive weapon designed to break stubborn middle-wicket partnerships before the death overs commence.
