Nintendo Could Expand Switch Online to Include 12 Classic Wii Titles [2026 Update]

Polygon reported that Nintendo is contemplating expanding its Switch Online subscription to include 12 classic Wii titles, a move that would fill a long‑standing gap in the service’s library. The titles, chosen for their enduring popularity, would be added to the existing lineup of NES, SNES, and GameCube games. Nintendo’s decision comes amid growing demand for nostalgic content and a desire to keep the Switch platform competitive against rivals such as PlayStation Now and Xbox Game Pass. The addition would likely attract former Wii owners and new subscribers looking for a broader retro catalog. As originally reported by Polygon, the company has not yet set a release window, but industry analysts suggest a rollout could coincide with a major hardware refresh or a holiday bundle. The proposal has sparked debate among fans and investors alike, with some praising the potential revenue boost and others questioning the cost of licensing older titles.
