Super Smash Bros: Mew2King Barred From Major [Confirmed]

Super Smash Bros Melee legend Jason 'Mew2King' Zimmerman has been officially barred from an Austin, Texas grassroots tournament after posting viral social media photos showing suspected bed bug infestations in his travel lodging, prompting immediate event health and safety interventions. According to verified reports from Kotaku, tournament organizers stepped in to protect attendees after Zimmerman shared images of severe bug bites and infested hotel mattresses. While Zimmerman maintained that professional medical examinations showed no active pest transfer on his personal belongings, public outcry and organizer liability forced his removal from the venue roster. Following the decision, Mew2King publicly announced an indefinite competitive hiatus, stating he deeply regrets publishing the photos and would have proactively withdrawn had he believed community safety was compromised. Grassroots fighting game gatherings rely on crowded setups and shared controllers, making physical hygiene protocols as critical as the digital safeguards debated in discussions like the [Digital Game Ownership Law: Power To The Players Act [Confirmed]](/news/power-to-players-act-digital-ownership).
