Made in Abyss Movie Sequel [Confirmed]: New Film Greenlit

A second brand-new Made in Abyss anime theatrical film is officially entering active production, studio representatives and publishing committee partners confirmed during the Japanese cinema launch of Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Awakening Mystery) this week. According to verified reports from IGN India, the project expands Akihito Tsukushi's acclaimed dark fantasy odyssey deeper into theatrical continuity following the box-office rollout of the first cinematic installment. The announcement solidifies Kadokawa's strategy to deliver long-form narrative arcs through high-budget cinema releases rather than fragmented episodic broadcast formats. Similar to how industry heavyweights recalibrated production pipelines for prestige releases like the [Ghost in the Shell New Anime: Science SARU Return [Confirmed]](/news/ghost-in-the-shell-science-saru-anime-confirmed), the Made in Abyss franchise leverages theatrical presentation to maximize animation fidelity and emotional resonance. While the production committee has not yet locked an international distribution calendar or revealed full staff credits, core creative teams from previous entries are anticipated to supervise key frame pipelines and musical orchestration. Fans tracking multimedia crossovers and franchise expansions can expect official teaser previews and studio confirmations across upcoming seasonal industry showcases later this year.
