League Classic Ends Jan 2027: Riot Confirms Closure [Confirmed]

League Classic is officially shutting down in January 2027 according to verified reports from Esports.gg, bringing a definitive end to the current iteration while Riot Games actively teases a potential future return for the beloved mode. Players can continue enjoying standard queue matches for the remainder of Season 3, maintaining competitive momentum before the transition. However, structural adjustments are hitting specific regions. According to developer statements from Andrei “Meddler” van Roon and Paul, servers with lower active player counts will transition to windowed queues. Furthermore, players on the Japan and Middle East and North Africa servers will be restricted exclusively to custom matches starting with patch 26.21. To mitigate community backlash, Riot Games has confirmed comprehensive player compensation plans. Affected accounts will receive direct refunds for all classic-specific cosmetic inventory items that will soon become obsolete. Additionally, developers are shipping the Act II Battle Pass featuring an entirely free track to reward loyal participants. This transition echoes broader shifts across competitive gaming ecosystems, similar to how [League Classic Mode Ending After Season 3 2026 [Confirmed]](/news/league-classic-mode-ending-2026) reshapes legacy playlist retention strategies.
