DC Studios Supergirl: James Gunn Denies Recasting [Confirmed]

DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn officially debunked circulating online speculation on October 16, confirming that House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock remains cast as Kara Zor-El in the upcoming Supergirl feature film ahead of DCU cinematic universe integration. According to verified reports from IGN Articles, Gunn addressed the baseless viral claims after Alcock cleared her Instagram profile, triggering fan panic across social channels. Gunn clarified on Threads that social media purging is standard celebrity practice rather than a studio termination. In the same engagement, Gunn reaffirmed that director Matt Reeves has not exited The Batman Part 2, keeping the Elseworlds sequel firmly on track. Furthermore, Gunn revealed that he and co-CEO Peter Safran are reviewing an early cut of Superman, currently titled Man of Tomorrow, marking a milestone for the rebooted franchise. As DC Studios prepares its expansive transmedia universe spanning films, serialized television, and connected gaming titles, consistent leadership quiets industry uncertainty. Much like narrative choices analyzed in our breakdown of [Best RPGs Where Skipping Dialogue Ruins Quests [Full Guide]](/news/best-rpgs-dialogue-choices-impact-guide), overarching continuity demands strict adherence to source vision. Alcock will debut as Supergirl in Superman before leading Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow under director Craig Gillespie.
