Irfan Pathan: Tilak Varma’s T20I Knockout ‘Needs Work’ [Full Details]

Irfan Pathan, former Indian all‑rounder, said Tilak Varma must improve his batting setup after the 23‑year‑old’s poor performance in India’s 1st T20I against New Zealand on 22 October 2026 at Hagley Oval, because the innings exposed a critical weakness in the top order. According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, India chased a record 210 runs, winning by four wickets, but Varma’s 12‑run knock was marred by a mistimed pull and a vulnerable stance against the new‑ball. Pathan’s blunt assessment sparked immediate discussion on social media, with former players urging Varma to focus on footwork and shot selection. The commentary also coincided with a surge in demand for Varma’s digital player card on 217G, where his market price rose sharply.
