IND vs NZ 2026: Nitish Kumar Reddy 3-Format Role [Confirmed]

Former Indian chief selector MSK Prasad officially confirmed that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has earned multi-format selection backing ahead of the India vs New Zealand 2026 series due to his dramatic increase in bowling speed and disciplined seam execution. According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, team management and national selectors view the Andhra star as India's premier pace-bowling all-rounder solution across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Prasad noted that Reddy's technical development—specifically clocking consistent speeds north of 135 km/h while maintaining upright seam presentation—positions him as a generational balance asset similar to discussions seen in the [IND vs NZ T20I: Shreyas Iyer on Suryavanshi [Confirmed]](/news/shreyas-iyer-vaibhav-suryavanshi-selection-nz) coverage.

Reddy's ascent provides the Indian squad with tactical fluidity, removing the historical dependency on seam-heavy pitches just to deploy four frontline quicks. The 2026 bilateral series against the Black Caps serves as the proving ground for this multi-format workload strategy. Selectors believe his ability to absorb middle-overs pressure and extract bounce on docile subcontinental tracks gives him an edge over pure batting all-rounders. With international calendars tightening, having a reliable three-dimensional performer who can bowl extended spells while anchoring the lower-middle order ensures India remains formidable across home and overseas tours alike.
