Half-Life 3 HLX Leak: Valve Dev Drops Codename [Confirmed]

Half-Life 3 development rumors have reignited intense global community speculation after Valve Corporation composer and senior audio artist Mike Morasky inadvertently uttered the legendary "HLX" project codename during a live GameSoundCon panel presentation held in late 2025. According to verified reports from PC Gamer, the slip-up occurred completely out of the blue, catching attendees and industry analysts off guard. HLX first surfaced in early 2024 through data strings hidden inside a Counter-Strike 2 update, bearing striking similarities to the "HLVR" strings utilized during the development of Half-Life: Alyx. Although previous data leaks failed to materialize into formal announcements, Morasky's verbal confirmation provides tangible weight to persistent underground rumors. Valve has historically maintained strict secrecy regarding unannounced titles, making accidental executive mentions exceedingly rare and significant for enthusiasts tracking the studio's next major release. Furthermore, industry veterans note that internal codenames typically evolve alongside engine iterations, suggesting active prototyping is well underway within Valve's headquarters.
